Some Of Trump's Most Controversial Policies Can Be Traced Back To Stephen Miller
Nearly ever present by the President's side, perhaps no one is more responsible for the Trump agenda than Stephen Miller. President Donald Trump on Thursday signed an executive order aimed at keeping families together at the border, but not before several days of public outcry over the administration's "zero-tolerance" immigration policy that had resulted in thousands of undocumented children separated from their families at the border. Some of the Trump administration's most controversial and chaos-inducing policies can be traced back to Miller, including the travel ban and the firing of former FBI director James Comey. CNN

Large Methane Leaks Threaten Perception Of 'Clean' Natural Gas
A new study published in the journal Science finds that methane emissions from U.S. oil and gas operations are 60 percent higher than previous estimates from the federal government. This comes at a time when U.S. is getting more and more of its power from natural gas; in 2017, 31.7 percent of U.S. electricity came from natural gas-fired generation, up from 27.3 percent in 2013. It's widely considered to be a cleaner fuel than coal, and natural gas does emit less carbon when it is burned for electricity. But this new, higher estimate of how much methane is leaking from natural gas production could change the whole equation. NPR

DOJ Gives Congress New Classified Documents On Russian Probe
The Justice Department says it has given House Republicans new classified information related to the Russia investigation after lawmakers had threatened to hold officials in contempt of Congress or even impeach them. A spokeswoman for House Speaker Paul Ryan said Saturday that the department has partially complied with subpoenas from the House Intelligence and Judiciary committees after officials turned over more than a thousand new documents this week. House Republicans had given the Justice Department and FBI a Friday deadline for all documents, most of which are related to the origins of the FBI's Russia investigation and the handling of its probe into Democrat Hillary Clinton's emails. Melania Does It Her Way
As the United States grapples with a political crisis sparked by the forcible separation of migrant children from their parents, the 48-year-old ex-model and Slovenian immigrant flew to Texas in a bid to quell the firestorm. Except her stated desire for children to reunite with their parents as quickly as possible was overshadowed by her choice of plane-boarding attire -- a jacket emblazoned with the words "I really don't care. Do U?" Instead of feting the rare frugal choice by the wife of a billionaire -- a $39 off-the-peg number from Zara -- the internet was convulsed with outrage over the choice and speculation as to why she wore it. Young Trumpies Hit D.C.
When Matt Mowers moved to Washington in November 2016, he wasn’t expecting a hero’s welcome. The young political operative had worked for Donald Trump’s campaign in New York, where you can hardly walk down the block in many neighborhoods without spying the words “Fuck Trump” scrawled somewhere on the streetscape. But last year, his new neighbors in Dupont Circle, the upscale area known for its stately townhouses and history as a hub of gay life in the District, pulled some moves that surprised even Mowers, by then chief of staff at the State Department’s global AIDS office. In the run-up to Mowers’ first Halloween here, one of his neighbors strung up a skeleton and a pumpkin next to each other on a tree.  Politico

Ten Days After Trump-Kim Summit, Hard Work Is Yet To Begin
The landmark summit between President Donald Trump and Chairman Kim Jong Un ended with a North Korean pledge of "complete denuclearization," but 10 days on no timetable for action has emerged. After flying back to Washington last week, seemingly giddy with success, the US leader tweeted, "There is no longer a Nuclear Threat from North Korea" -- a bold claim with Kim's arsenal still in place. But senior US officials admit there is much work to be done as negotiators thrash out the details of what they hope will be Pyongyang's "complete, verifiable and irreversible" disarmament. Why Socialism Is Doomed To Fail
In The Consolation of Philosophy, the 5th century Greek scholar and Roman Consul Boethius wrote: “Compare the length of a moment with the period of ten thousand years; the first, however miniscule, does exist as a fraction of a second. But that number of years, or any multiple of it that you may name, cannot even be compared with a limitless extent of time, the reason being that comparisons can be drawn between finite things, but not between finite and infinite.” PJ Media

Amazon Employees: ICE Contract Like Assiting Hitler With Holocaust
Amazon employees sent an open letter to CEO Jeff Bezos Friday protesting the company’s contract with Immigration and Customs Enforce (ICE), comparing it to IBM’s contract with Adolf Hitler during the second world war. “As ethically concerned Amazonians, we demand a choice in what we build, and a say in how it is used. We learn from history, and we understand how IBM’s systems were employed in the 1940s to help Hitler,” the letter states. “IBM did not take responsibility then, and by the time their role was understood, it was too late. Trump Could Accidentally Help Save Angela Merkel
Donald Trump and his friends really don’t like German Chancellor Angela Merkel. She’s the leader of a country and a European Community that he regards as inveterate migrant-coddlers and trade cheats; a chief obstacle to his larger strategic goals with respect to Iran; and an enemy of his tacit ally Russia. They also famously lack chemistry, and represent diametrically opposed poles in the debate over the future of the G7. And the relationship isn’t getting better, particularly with Trump’s renewed threats to impose tariffs on European luxury cars, especially those manufactured in Germany. NY Mag

Democrats Manufactured Border Hysteria For Midterms
Of course, they speak very differently when it’s not an election year. Anyway you slice it, these issues have to be dealt with. We do have border patrol and immigration laws and a massive cartel-fueled billion dollar operation on our border, and like water and oil, the two don’t mix. The only real solution appears to be the U.S and Canada somehow eventually aiding in the monumental task of turning the tide on the third world Central and South American culture of corruption and murder.
