Castor sounded more authentic and knowledgeable than the Dems attorney. Stephen Castor, the lawyer drafted by House Republicans to fight Democrats’ impeachment case, brought his legal documents to Monday’s hearing inside a reusable grocery tote. The attorney strolled into the appearance before the House Judiciary Committee looking more prepared to cook up some steaks than argue a high-stakes case, pulling sheaves of legal briefs out of a green Fresh Market tote bearing the words “live, eat, shop, reuse.”
The bizarre accessory raised eyebrows across Twitter. “I kept expecting Castor to pull a box of 365 brand toaster pastries out of that bag,” wrote user @breeze_in_clev, referring to the store-brand of Fresh Market rival Whole Foods. “Castor is dropping a strong hint that he wants a new bag for Christmas,” cracked @pat_mckeever. Another user, @IamShaneMorris, mocked up a conversation between Castor and his wife as the lawyer prepared to leave for the hearings this morning. “Babe, why don’t you take that nice briefcase I got you for your birthday?” wrote Morris in the role of Mrs. Castor.
