Cortez is a fool, but nobody should be threatened. An Ohio fugitive has been busted for writing on social media that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez “should be shot” and for illegally having ammunition, officials said Friday. Timothy Ireland Jr., 41, of Toledo was charged in the Northern District Court of Ohio with one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm, one count of being a fugitive in possession of a firearm and one count of making interstate threats.
On July 23, the United States Capitol Police were tipped off that Ireland had made threatening statements on Facebook about the Bronx-Queens Democratic socialist. “She should be shot. Can’t fire me, my employer would load the gun for me,” read a post on the Facebook account for user Tim Ireland along with a link to a news story regarding Ocasio-Cortez, according to a criminal complaint.
A criminal history check revealed that Ireland had two outstanding warrants – one for felony failure to appear in Sarasota County, Florida, in connection to a violation of probation and another for a misdemeanor failure to appear related to a marijuana possession charge in Cook County, Georgia, the US Attorney’s Office said.
Investigators also found that Ireland had been convicted in 1996 in Sarasota County of four felony counts of dealing in stolen property. When USCP officers called Ireland on Aug. 2 about the Facebook post, he admitted that he made the statements, the complaint said.
