Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump’s former personal attorney for over ten years who served as the prosecution’s star witness in the 2024 New York criminal hush-money trial, has recanted his testimony. It showed he lied.
President Trump posted to Truth Social stating that Cohen felt “pressured” and “coerced” by Manhattan prosecutors to shape his testimony to help the government secure a conviction. The president accused Attorney General of New York Letitia James and District Attorney of Manhattan Alvin Bragg of breaking the law in order to obtain false statements aimed at derailing his presidential campaign. A 12-person Manhattan jury previously delivered Trump a guilty verdict on all 34 counts of falsifying business records in relation to a hush money payment to Stormy Daniels, a former adult film star.
