Ex-FBI Boss Drops Hint-Loretta Lynch's Involvement In Hillary Email Probe
According to ABC News, Comey writes in "A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies and Leadership," that he became the public face of the investigation partly because of the mysterious development which he felt could cast “serious doubt” on Lynch's independence. “Had it become public, the unverified material would undoubtedly have been used by political opponents to cast serious doubt on the attorney general’s independence in connection with the Clinton investigation,” Comey writes, according to ABC. He calls the material “development still unknown to the American public to this day.” Fox

Russia Blames UK For Syria Chemical Attack
A day before a team from the international chemical weapons watchdog was to arrive in Douma, just east of Damascus, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said that images of victims of the purported attack were staged with “Britain’s direct involvement, “ without providing evidence. Britain’s ambassador to the United Nations, Karen Pierce, dismissed Konashenkov’s claim as “a blatant lie.” USA Today

Trump Rips Comey As 'Untruthful Slime Ball'
“James Comey is a proven LEAKER & LIAR,” the president tweeted. “Virtually everyone in Washington thought he should be fired for the terrible job he did-until he was, in fact, fired. He leaked CLASSIFIED information, for which he should be prosecuted. He lied to Congress under OATH.” “His handling of the Crooked Hillary Clinton case, and the events surrounding it, will go down as one of the worst ‘botch jobs’ of history,” Trump said. “It was my great honor to fire James Comey!” Fox

Zuckerberg's Testimony Raises New Questions About Facebook's Lobbying Practices
In February, Facebook gave $200,000 to The Committee to Protect California Jobs, a business-backed political action group dedicated to defeating a state ballot initiative that would expand Californians’ privacy controls. Then on Wednesday, after Mark Zuckerberg’s two-day grilling by 44 members of Congress — in which he spoke positively about the prospect of regulation — Facebook withdrew its support from the group. Trump Issues Pardon For Scooter Libby
Libby came under scrutiny in connection with the leak in 2003 of the identity of Plame, who had worked undercover overseas and was married to a prominent Bush administration critic, Joseph Wilson. Libby, former Vice President Dick Cheney’s chief of staff, was never charged with leaking, but was indicted in 2005 on charges of obstruction of justice, perjury and making false statements to investigators, largely for denying his contacts with the media about Plame. Trump Firing Rosenstein Could Provoke A Legal Challenge
But removing Rosenstein -- and putting someone else in charge of the Mueller probe -- may not be quite as easy as it sounds. Under normal circumstances, firing Rosenstein would trigger the Justice Department’s line of succession plan and two things would happen. First, one of Rosenstein’s top assistants would become acting deputy attorney general for everything but the Mueller investigation. Bloomberg

Armada Of US Warships Steaming Toward Middle East
An armada of 12 warships — the largest US strike force since the 2003 Iraq war – is steaming toward the Middle East as President Trump mulls an attack on Syria in retaliation for a chemical weapons attack on civilians, according to a report. The aircraft carrier USS Harry S Truman set sail from Norfolk, Va., on Wednesday with five escort warships and they were expected to join four destroyers and two nuclear-powered subs believed to already be in or near the Mediterranean, the Times of London reported. "She alone decided that she did not want to continue with the pregnancy and I offered to help her financially during this difficult period." Business Insider

Trump Begs World Leaders To Let Him Back Into Their Club
“We welcome the U.S. coming back to the table, but I don’t see any wholesale appetite for any material renegotiation of the T.P.P.-11,” Australia Trade Minister Steven Ciobo told reporters Friday. Malaysia’s International Trade and Industry Minister Mustapa Mohamed said that any renegotiation would “alter the balance of benefits for parties,” while Japan’s minister in charge of T.P.P., Toshimitsu Motegi, echoed that sentiment, saying it would be very hard to change the deal at this point, describing it as a “balanced one, like fine glassware.” Vanity Fair

Russia's Lavrov: God Forbid Any Libya Style Adventure In Syria

Trump's Personal Lawyer Attacked By US Prosecutor Over Privacy Claim
A U.S. prosecutor on Friday attacked a claim by President Donald Trump's longtime personal lawyer Michael Cohen that many of the materials seized this week in FBI raids on Cohen's office and home as part of a criminal investigation should remain private. Prosecutors also confirmed in a court filing on Friday that they have been investigating Cohen for months, largely over his business dealings rather than his legal work. US News & World Report

Mass Protests Planned If Trump Fires Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein
If President Donald Trump fires Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein or any other officials involved in the Russia investigation, he faces the prospect of hundreds of thousands of activists immediately turning out to protest all over the country. A coalition of grassroots activists, unions, policy organizations and good governance groups have, for months, been plotting to quickly and forcefully respond to any perceived interference with the investigation. And with Trump increasingly vocal about his displeasure with the inquiry, these organizers say they’re stepping up their efforts. Huff Post

Trump Is Not A Very Good Global Economic Chess Player
You can argue about what exactly was the most incredible news out of the White House this week: The possible use of the American military in Syria, the raiding of the President's private attorney by the FBI, Trump's "slime ball" comeback at the memoir of the scorned former FBI director -- all would be contenders. But the development that carries the most weight is the news that Trump may now want to rejoin the Trans-Pacific Partnership or TPP. CNN

Deported Veteran About To Become US Citizen. Wait....What?
Barajas has become a well-known leader of an increasingly vocal group of deported veterans, many of whom have made their home across the US-Mexico border in Tijuana. Trump Orders Postal Service Review
President Trump stepped up his long-running battle with Amazon, ordering a federal task force to investigate the Postal Service's finances. The executive order issued late Thursday night does not mention Amazon by name, but Amazon is the subtext. Trump has frequently complained that Amazon (AMZN) takes advantage of the post office. Trump is angry at Amazon in part because its CEO, Jeff Bezos, is also the owner of The Washington Post, whose coverage Trump complaints about. CNN

More Than 5 Drinks A Week Could Shorten Lives By Years
Any more than five drinks a week on average can take years off a person’s life, the new study of more than half a million people around the world shows. That’s less than what's recommended in many countries. For instance, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the American Heart Association both say men can safely drink up to two alcoholic drinks a day and women up to a drink a day. NBC

Trump’s ICE Chief Loves His Deportation Force
The first nine people to lead Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the agency President Donald Trump picked Homan to lead last January, rarely courted controversy. Most of them were lawyers, adept at the art of bipartisan doublespeak and content to leave policy fights to politicians. They generally described ICE as a national security agency, emphasizing its investigative work and the number of criminals removed, while downplaying its core function: deporting people who pose little or no threat. Michael Cohen Would Often Record Conversations And Now The Feds May Have Them
When the FBI raided the home and office of Michael Cohen, Donald Trump’s personal lawyer and longtime fixer, they were reportedly looking for information about hush payments made to women who say they’ve slept with Trump. The Internet Apologizes …
To keep the internet free — while becoming richer, faster, than anyone in history — the technological elite needed something to attract billions of users to the digital ads they were selling. And that something, it turns out, was outrage. As Jaron Lanier, a pioneer in virtual reality, points out, anger is the emotion most effective at driving “engagement” — which also makes it, in a market for attention, the most profitable one. By creating a self-perpetuating loop of shock and recrimination, social media further polarized what had already seemed, during the Obama years, an impossibly and irredeemably polarized country. ABC's Meghan McCain Zings Comey: He Just Wants to Be A 'View' Co-Host
View co-host Meghan McCain is making a habit of upending the liberal narrative on the ABC program. On Friday, she mocked the idea that Jim Comey is a pious, non-ideological truth teller, saying that the “highly political” ex-FBI Director just wants to be a View co-host. McCain reminded: “I have many problems with James Comey...
