And Approval Ratings - What The Elite Media Won't Tell You
According to the elite media, President Trump is a negative, dangerous, unpredictable leader who is getting more and more unpopular. The most recent average of polls has President Trump at 39 percent approval. One news analyst wrote that Trump is turning us from a 50-50 country to a 60-40 country, with the new majority consolidating against the president. In their eagerness to declare the Trump presidency a failure, the elite media is failing to inform us of two things. First, President Reagan had a similar period during his first term when his approval rating fell to 35 percent -- even lower than President Trumps. Reagan bounced back, carried 49 states in a landslide reelection, and went on to oversee an economic boom and change world history by pushing the Soviet Union into collapse. Fox

To Aides: 'I Want Tariffs'
President Donald Trump and his administration have gradually taken a harder line against China on trade issues, inching closer to matching Trump's tough talk during the campaign. But the pace has been all too slow for a president intent on retaliating against alleged Chinese foreign trade abuses and rebalancing the US-China trading relationship. "I want tariffs," Trump told a coterie of top advisers in the Oval Office during retired Gen. John Kelly's first week as chief of staff, a source with direct knowledge of the meeting told CNN. Axios first reported details of the tense Oval Office meeting. CNN

Response To Trump Tweet, Mexico Reiterates It Won't Pay For The Wall
The Mexican government on Sunday again stressed its position that it will not pay for President Donald Trump's proposed border wall. Trump tweeted Sunday morning: "With Mexico being one of the highest crime Nations in the world, we must have THE WALL. Mexico will pay for it through reimbursement/other." In response, the country's foreign ministry released a statement saying Mexico would not pay for a wall or other physical barrier at the border "under any circumstances." "This determination is not part of a Mexican negotiating strategy, but a principle of national sovereignty and dignity," the statement said. CNN

Slaps Down Haley: No One Sees Military Sites Without Ayatollahs Permission
Two years after the Obama administration contended that the nuclear deal it reached with Iran had opened the door to international inspection of military sites, a senior military adviser to supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei declared Sunday that it does not. The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) allows no inspection of Irans military sites, the Mehr news agency cited Maj. Gen. Hassan Firouzabadi as saying. No foreign and domestic official and not even unauthorized officials of the Iranian Armed Forces are allowed to inspect Irans military sites without Ayatollah Khamenei's permission. CNS

Matthew Prince had the power to kill the white supremacist hate site the Daily Stormer for years, but he didnt choose to pull the trigger until 16 August. Thats when the chief executive of website security company Cloudflare woke up in a bad mood and decided to kick them off the Internet, as he told his employees in an internal email. Without Cloudflares protection, the Daily Stormer was forced to retreat to the darknet, where it is inaccessible to the majority of internet users. Wont Be Stopping In Houston During Trip To Harvey-Ravaged Texas
Houston will not be on President Trumps itinerary when he visits the Lone Star State on Tuesday, Gov. Greg Abbott said Monday. The place he will be going to will not be Houston so [he] will not be getting into harms way or interrupting the evacuations or emergency response in the Houston area, Abbott said on CBS This Morning. He most likely will be going closer to where the hurricane hit land, he added, according to a report in Politico. The White House announced Sunday that the president would travel to Texas on Tuesday but didnt provide details on exactly where he would visit. At least five people have lost their lives due to Hurricane Harvey, which has been renamed Tropical Storm Harvey. About 30,000 people are expected to be housed in emergency shelters. NY Post

Trump Turns To Rove Playbook To Juice 2018 Turnout
Donald Trumps White House may take a page from the Karl Rove playbook. The administration has been in talks to put conservative initiatives on the ballot in 2018 midterm battleground states in hopes of energizing base voters dispirited by the performance of Republican-controlled Washington. The strategy is similar to the one Rove used in 2004. The George W. Bush political guru helped engineer a slate of anti-gay marriage amendments that year to boost GOP turnout in swing states such as Ohio, an approach that many are convinced helped pave the way for Bushs reelection. Lawsuits Seek To Reverse Donald Trumps Pentagon Policy
Advocates for the transgender ideology have filed two new lawsuits against President Donald Trumps decision to end former President Barack Obamas short-lived pro-transgender policies at the Pentagon. The legal fight over the Pentagons rules is important because pro-transgender advocates are trying to persuade judges throughout the nation to approve and establish their claim that the government officials including teachers, school boards, city councils and state legislatures must validate and support people who are trying to live as members of the other sex, regardless of each persons male or female biology. Trillion Gallons Of Water So Far
Hurricane Harvey has flooded Texas with 9 trillion gallons of rainfall and counting. If the same volume of water were concentrated inside city limits, it would fill the footprint of Philadelphia with 30 stories of rain. City Hall would be more than 50 percent submerged. The total rainfall from Harvey is likely to tally up to a widespread 15 to 30 inches, with a few localized spots picking up to 50 inches or more. Putting this much rainfall into perspective is challenging; after all, the sheer volume of water is incredibly tough to visualize. Philadelphia Inquirer
Deportation Cases Quietly 'Closed' Under Obama
During the Obama era up to 200,000 deportation cases were "administratively closed" without action, a move that left tens of thousands of illegal immigrants free to roam America, sometimes indefinitely, according to a new report. When added to those cases still pending court action, it brings the backlog of cases to about 800,000, far more than previously known. In the report for the Center for Immigration Studies, former immigration judge Andrew R. Arthur said that there are some 100,000 cases that were closed, but told Secrets that it could be as high as 200,000. "My back-of-the-envelope calculations suggest at least 100,000 more are possible, for 200,000 on top of the 600,000 we currently have," said Arthur. Washington Examiner

Confederate Memorial Unveiled In Alabama
More than 200 people attended an unveiling ceremony for a new Confederate monument Sunday afternoon in Alabama's Crenshaw County. Trump And Jared Kushner Allies Untouchable In White House
A new Vanity Fair article explores Ivanka Trump, her husband Jared Kushner and the couples role in Washington D.C. and the White House. Immigration Crackdown Is Making New Homes More Expensive
Last year, Jim Brown and other home builders around Atlanta could get a good framing crew at a rate of $3.25 per square foot. This year, the few framers they can find demand, and get, almost double that. They can ask anything, Brown said. There arent enough of them left. A high-end home builder who supported President Donald Trump last year, Brown said the presidents immigration policies have dried up the already stretched supply of Hispanic-dominated framing labor. Officials Give Updates Sunday On Harvey Preparations In New Orleans
Mayor Mitch Landrieu and several city officials gave another round of updates Sunday as the city hunkers down for possible heavy rains associated with Tropical Storm Harvey. City leaders have been holding news conferences on Harvey before and after the storm made landfall in Texas as a Category 4 hurricane. Remain Silent As Trump Pardons Arpaio
President Donald Trump's pardon of former Sheriff Joe Arpaio has been widely denounced as another instance of the President's scorn for the judiciary. Yet one set of voices has been missing: that of Chief Justice John Roberts and the nation's leading judges. They have been silent since the beginning, when Trump derided a judge of Mexican heritage during the 2016 presidential campaign and during the furor over an immigrant travel ban early in his presidency when he referred to a "so-called judge." That pattern held after Trump's repudiation Friday of a US district court judge's conviction of Arpaio for criminal contempt. The July 31 conviction arose from Arpaio's flagrant defiance of another judge's orders in a long-running case over the former Maricopa County sheriff's targeting of Latinos in Arizona. CNN
